First-ever election for the posts of chairperson and vice chairperson of the District Development Council (DDCs) Ramban in Jammu and Kashmir would be held through a secret ballot.
According to officials, elections for electing chairperson and vice-chairperson for District Development Counsels in Ramban district would be held on the fourth and last phase on Saturday.
The seat of chairperson is reserved for female candidates. Fourteen DDC members would elect their chairperson and vice chairperson through secret ballot om second phase on Saturday
According to sources, the National Conference will field their candidate for chairperson where Indian National Congress will field their candidate for vice-chairperson. The National Conference and Congress have approved names of Dr Samshad Shan and Imtiyaz Ahmed Khanday—respectively for chairperson and vice-chairperson. The post of chairperson is reserved for female candidates. The NC has decided to field Dr Shamshada Shan who was elected from Sangaldan DDC constituency. District administration had made all the arrangements.
