Acting on the complaint of locals, the District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana today ordered deduction of salaries of teachers and other staff members of Government High School (GHS) Dehrna, Kishtwar, for being absent from their duties unauthorisedly.

The locals locked the school after they found that none of the staff members, except one class IV employee, were present in the school.

The people of Dherna  telephonically informed the DDC that Government High School Dehrna was found closed and none was present except one class IV employee namely Mohd Rajab.

The people requested the DDC to take stern action against the erring teachers and other staff members for not performing their legitimate duties.

The absentees  included Gh. Hussain Lohar (teacher), Yasir Rashid Trak (teacher), Ghulam Rasool (teacher), Chuni Lal (teacher), Gh. Mohd Shah (teacher), Abdul Karim Wani (lab assistant), Krishan Lal (lab assistant), Shafa Begum (IVth Class) and Madhu Balla (IVth Class).

The DDC, viewing the matter seriously, issued order deducting salaries of the absentees.

“The office of DM time and again issued strict directions to all the government employees to remain punctual and perform their legitimate duties with dedication and sincerity but it is unfortunate that no heed was paid to the instructions of this office which is serious concern and against the ethics of Service Conduct Rules which invites strict action against such erring officials as per law,” reads the order issued by DDC.

“In the back drop of above facts, sanction is hereby accorded for the deduction of the salary of the erring teachers and ministerial staff of the said school for the period of their absence from their legitimate duties,” the order reads.
