District development commissioner, ShowkatAijazBhat, Tuesday convened a meeting to take stock of snow clearance on highway and link roads, besides reviewing supply position of essential commodities in the district.
The meeting was attended by SSP, Anita Sharma, SSP traffic, SanjeevKhajuria, ADDC, Nawab Din, ADC, DrBasharatHussain, CPO, Uttam Singh, CMO RambanDrSaifUd Din Khan, and other concerned officers.
The DDC directed the concerned to take adequate steps for ensuring smooth passage of traffic by removing snow from Nashri to Jawahar tunnel and other link roads.
He directed the officers of health, food, PDD, PHE and other essential departments to be proactive and ensure that there are no interruptions in essential services due to the inclement weather situation in the district
The construction agencies were directed to station adequate men and machinery at their respective areas so that mobilization time is not wasted during the landslide blockage of road in case of snowfall.
Bhat also sought an inter-departmental coordination for effective response to meet any eventuality.
He directed all officers to stay at their headquarters and keep men and machinery ready and alert in view of snowfall.
Earlier, the DDC inspected the Jammu-Srinagar highway to review snow clearance operations, besides restoration of electricity and availability of essential commodities.
