Doda civil society demands separate administrative division for Chenab Valley

The Doda civil society today demanded a separate administrative division for Chenab Valley comprising of erstwhile Doda district to ensure holistic development of entire Chenab region.

Talking to news agency, spokesperson of Joint Civil Society Doda, Ishtiaq Ahmed Dev said that to ensure development of this educationally and economically backward region, the state government should expedite the process for creation of separate administrative division for Chenab Valley.

   

President, Doda Development Front, Gh Hassan Pampori in a statement also said that the establishment of a separate administrative division is a long pending demand of the people and it is necessary for the development of this region.

He urged the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to consider the demand on priority basis. He said that the only solution to the grievances of the people of entire Chenab region is a separate administrative division.

Geographically Chenab Valley is a vast area comprising of three districts viz Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar.

All the three districts are hilly and there are still many areas where the developmental and other welfare schemes of the government are yet to reach, Pampori said.

There are many inaccessible villages and hamlets where people live without the basic facilities like water, electricity and health care, he said.
