In the run up to Eid, shoppers in droves today thronged markets of Kishtwar town. There was huge rush for sacrificial animals also.

The markets of Kishtwar remained abuzz today with increased rush as shoppers.

People in large numbers could be seen buying Eid items and other merchandise.

There were many sheep and goat sale points in the town, which attracted crowds.  The chief market for the sale of sacrificial animals was at Jamia Market near Jamia Masjid Kishtwar where hundreds of sheep and goat are sold.

Eid-ul-Adha, the festival of sacrifice, will be celebrated on Saturday and Sunday. The festival is marked by the sacrifice of animals. 

The rush to the markets will continue tomorrow as well, a shopkeeper said.

Customers could be seen in droves at the bakery shops. 

Most of the rush could be seen at shopping zones namely Dreams Shopping Centre near Bus stand Kishtwar,  Old and New Bus Stands, Gudhali Chowk, Shahidi Chowk and Hidyal Chowk. 

Meanwhile, many shoppers complained that the shopkeepers were not following the approved rate list. "There is no check on the arbitrary price hike by the shopkeepers," the shoppers said.
