Faulty electric transmission system poses threat to lives, property

Faulty and out dated transmission system in district Ramban is posing a potent threat to human life and property in Ramban district.

People alleged that Power Development Department (PDD) Rural Electrification & Maintenance department has miserably failed in replacing damaged and outdated electric poles erected for high transmission line originating from Grid Stations of Gool Ramban Ramsu Sangaldan Banihal.

They said that department is claiming its spending  crores for repair, maintenances and augmentation purposes but in reality it is only on papers whereas ground situation is grim.

Consumers claimed that hardly any day passes without the incident of abrupt snapping of conductor in one or other localities in the district.

The far flung areas which have been electrified some time back the condition of High Tension (HT) transmission lines and Low Tension (LT) lines is going from bad to worse with each passing day.

They complained that leave aside High Tension transmission lines poles installed from Sub Stations to localities for supply power by Low Tension conductors for domestic connection holders at some places the conductor are tied with green standing trees which are constant and pose potent threat to the human life and property, complained people.

The engineers of the department are least bothered to change electric poles or out dated conductors which are virtually emerging as constant threats.

When contacted concerned engineers of Power Development Department and Sub Transmission Division said that non availability of funds for repair and maintenance is hampering the work.
