Govt committed for equitable development of J&K: Interlocutor

The central government’s special representative (interlocutor) for Jammu and Kashmir, Dineshwar Sharma today met several delegations at Kishtwar during his maiden visit here and suured the people that the government is committed to equitable development of Jammu and Kashmir.  

The 61-year-old Sharma met several delegations which comprised of senior citizens, youth and students from the area and listened to their issues, an official said.

   

The delegations apprised Sharma of the political issues and problems faced by the common people.

The delegations also submitted memorandum to the Interlocutor demanding that the problems of the far flung areas of this district should be addressed.

Sources said that the demands primarily included addressing unemployment, development, early start of several power projects in Kishtwar district, engagement of local youth both skilled and unskilled in upcoming power projects etc.

Some of the delegation members said that Dineshwar Sharma assured them that the Centre was concerned about all districts of Jammu region, whether it is the capital city, urban, rural or far off district, and each and every district will get equal treatment for development and other opportunities.

He told the delegations that a number of steps have already been taken by the Centre for restoration of peace and normalcy and stepping up development activities in Jammu and Kashmir and that more such steps could be taken shortly.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, one delegation member, Advocate Sheikh Nasir, said, “We suggested that the government should talk to all the stakeholders of Jammu and Kashmir to solve the issue of Kashmir”.
