Healthcare in Ramban is in pathetic condition: Civil Society

The members of the Civil Society alleged that the Primary Health Centers and Sub District Hospitals in the district are in pathetic condition, in a meeting held here today.

The members said that the Government Hospitals have been neglected by the government and the standard of healthcare has gone from bad to worse.

They added, “The callous attitude of the health department is clearly visible in the district. The District Hospitals refer patients to Government Medical College Jammu or hospitals in Srinagar, as they are not able to even treat the minutely injured.”

The case is no different for gynecology patients. As the doctors are less in number, they are not able to treat patients properly. The members alleged that the doctors are busy treating patients in their private clinics and due to lack of options, the poor is forced to travel to Jammu or Srinagar.

“The doctors of Indian System of Medicine and Bachelors of Unani Medicines and Surgeries, engaged under National Rural Health Mission scheme are running the show here. The shortage of specialist doctors, paramedical staff and laboratory technicians was brought into the notice of the Commissioner Secretary Health and Director Health Services Jammu, who did nothing to solve the grievances of the people,” they said in the meeting.
