Hand written posters of militant outfit Hizbul Mujahdeed (HM) purportedly signed by its commander Fayaz Naiko were found at four places in highway town Banihal on Friday morning, source said.
The posters carried an appeal for the shopkeepers asking them to keep their shops and business establishments shut on 8 July to mark the death anniversary of militant commander Burhan Wani who was killed by security personnel in Kashmir Valley last year, sources said.
The posters asked people to abstain from consuming liquor and indulging in any other "anti-religious" activities, sources said.
After coming to know about the posters, police removed these posters from various places in the town, sources said.
The police officers are tight lipped about the development.
