Hyderpora killings: Section 144 imposed in Ramban areas

Srinagar Nov 17: Authorities in J&K’s Ramban district Wednesday imposed restrictions under section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code in Famrote, Sangaldan and Seripora areas of Gool sub-division “to maintain law and order and public tranquility” in view of killing of a local youth, whom police described as a militant associate, a claim rejected by the family.

Addressing a press conference, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that Amir Ahmad who was among four persons killed in Hyderpora gunfight was a militant associate.

However, the family members of Amir have said that he was working as a helper with Dr Mudasir Gul, another person killed in the gunfight. They have threatened to hold protests on Srinagar-Jammu highway if the body of Amir was not handed over to them.

Additional District Magistrate Ramban while invoking the section 144 of CrPc directed SSP Ramban to implement the restrictions from 9 AM this morning till further orders.
