For the first time in the history of Doda, six women candidates emerged victorious in Doda Municipal Committee (MC) elections, the results of which were declared today.
Apart from this, the BJP also made its maiden entry in Doda Municipal Committee by winning 3 wards. There are many first timers also who made it to the Doda Municipal Committee.
The national parties, BJP and Congress, failed to get majority for forming Municipal Committee in Doda, as voters preferred independents who won 11 seats. The BJP and Congress had to content with 3 seats each.
In Doda Municipal Committee, the BJP opened its account for the first time by winning 3 seats.
The BJP candidates registered victory in ward number 2, 16 and 17.
Many new faces also registered victories in Doda MC including the youngest candidate, Gagandeep Rana from BJP. Former chairman, Asif Jahan Gattu of Congress won election for second time from ward number 12.
