
A Pakistan delegation visited Kishtwar to inspect the sites for construction of three hydropower projects in the district.
Pakistan's Indus Commissioner Syed Muhammad Mehar Ali Shah, additional commissioner Sheraz Jamil Memon, and advisor Tahir Mahmood Hayat visited Pakal Dul dam, Rattle power project and Lower Kalnai project on Chenab river. They were accompanied by PK Saxena, Indian commissioner for Indus Waters, AK Agrawal, senior joint commissioner, Rajveer Singh, deputy commissioner, Yoki Vijay, CWC and advisor and others.
The Pakistani delegation's tour is an obligation imposed on both the countries by Indus Waters Treaty between India and Pakistan.
Under the treaty, both the commissioners are mandated to inspect sites and works on both the sides of Indus basin in a span of five years, a senior official said.
