Kashmir killings: Pro-freedom protests as Banihal shuts for 4th consecutive day
Protests were held in highway town Banihal after the Friday prayers, even as the area remained shut for the fourth consecutive day today to protest the civilian killings in Kashmir.
All shops and other business establishments, and educational institutions remained closed to protest the excessive use of force on unarmed protesters.
The 15-km Srinagar-Jammu highway stretch from Nowgam to Magarkoot remained closed for traffic movement during the day.
Vehicles are being allowed to ply on this road only after 11 pm to early in the morning due to prevailing situation in the valley, reports said.
Protests were also reported from Sangaldan, Khadi and its adjoining villages in the Ramban district.
The protesters were chanting slogans in favour of Azadi and against the government forces.
