People from several areas of Kishtwar today complained that they were facing acute shortage of drinking water in this Ramadhan.

The complainants accused the district administration and authorities concerned of failing to provide adequate water supply to many parts of Kishtwar.

The complainants said they had travel to nearby areas to fetch water. "There we sit in long queues to wait for our turn to fill our gallons and buckets," they said.

They said they were hiring the ponies and cart pullers to fetch water from long distances.

"It has now been for weeks that our taps are running dry. Nobody is paying any heed to our problem. We have approached several times to the authorities concerned, even contacted the local officials but to no avail," the residents of ward number 1, said.

The complainants alleged that the department concerned was deliberately showing non-seriousness towards this issue.

"It is quite disgusting that we have been subjected to such inconvenience in this holy month," they said.

"The authorities assured us that they are working on this issue and are making efforts to make good supply of water, but one month has passed yet there is still no water supply to our area," the complainants said.
