Kishtwar villages face severe water crisis

The densely populated village Palmar and many villages of Kishtwar district are reeling under severe water crisis with people alleging that the concerned PHE Department is "least bothered" about their problem as no step has been taken to ensure regular water supply despite repeated requests.

The residents of village Palmar said that their area has been facing water shortage since the past many months and slammed both PHE Department and the politicians for neglecting their area.

The women of the area said that they have to travel miles for fetching drinking water to meet their daily requirements i.e drinking, bathing, cooking washing clothes, utensils etc.

"It takes us almost half an hour to fetch one bucket of water," the women of Palmar said.

"Despite our repeated requests, the PHE department has failed to restore water supply to our area. Women of this region are the worst sufferer as they have to manage drinking water by travelling long distance", locals said.

The people requested the Chief Engineer to intervene and ensure regular water supply.
