A landslide blocked Jammu-Srinagar highway for several hours between Ramban and Banihal sector on Monday, after heavy rains wreaked havoc at several places on the highway.
The highway was restored after clearing the debris, an official said.
SP Traffic (Highway) Shakti Pathak told Greater Kashmir, “Jammu-Srinagar highway was blocked between Ramban-Banihal after big boulders and landslides struck the highway. It took about five hours for the highway authorities to clear the debris and the highway was restored for vehicular movement after 12 noon.”
Meanwhile, hundreds of vehicles were stranded on the highway after the road was blocked.
