Jammu and Kashmir police Monday claimed to have arrested analleged bootlegger and recovered illicit liquor from his possession, here inBanihal.
A police officer said, “On specific information, acheckpoint was laid in Gund Adal Kote area of Banihal town. During checking, apedestrian was stopped and his bag was searched. On search, 50 bottles ofillicit liquor were recovered.”
The police identified the accused as Sajad Ahmed Sheikh andclaimed that he is a habitual offender. “3 FIRs already stand registeredagainst him,” the officer said, adding that an FIR has been registered andpolice are investigating the case.
He further said, “Reportedly, the accused used to sell theliquor among local youth at exorbitant rates.”
