Man killed, another injured in road accidents

A man was killed while another sustained injuries in separate road accidents in Rajouri and Ramban districts, police said on Saturday.

A police officer said, “A tractor, JK11B 0716, met with an accident at Chingus village on the Jammu-Rajouri highway. As a result, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Mohammad Parvez, son of Munir Hussain and a resident of Bagnoti, Nowshera sustained injuries. He was shifted to a local hospital, where he was declared as brought dead.”

   

Police have taken cognizance of the incident.

Meanwhile, a man was injured when the truck he was travelling in plunged into a gorge at Kelamorh on Jammu-Srinagar highway on Saturday morning, police said.

A police officer said, “The truck, JK02AN 5817, was on way to Jammu, when at Kelamorh, the driver lost control over the vehicle and it rolled down into a gorge. As a result, the cleaner of the truck sustained grievous injuries.”

The truck was being driven in a rash and negligent manner, the officer said, adding that the driver, identified as Swaran Singh, a resident of Simbal, Jammu, fled away from the accident spot.

The officer identified the injured man as Harbajan Singh, son of Ishar Singh and a resident of Simbal, Jammu. “He was shifted to district hospital Ramban, where he is responding to treatment,” he said.

An FIR has been registered and police are investigating the case further.
