Minor from UP dead, eight others injured as rickshaw rolls down into gorge in J&K’s Ramban

Banihal, Nov 9: A minor non-local child from Uttar Pradesh died while seven others besides an adult were injured after the motor rickshaw they were traveling in rolls down into a gorge in Kowbagh area on the NH-44 in J&K’s Ramban district on Monday, officials said.

An official told Greater Kashmir that the cart attached with a motorcycle was on way to Ramban from Kowbagh when it skidded off and rolled down into a 300-350 ft gorge at around 1740 hrs.

   

A minor child, identified as Vir Bhan, son of Ram Paul of UP, aged 8-10 years died on the spot in the accident, the official said.

The deceased’s father, Ram Paul, son of Ram Prasad and seven other children were injured in the accident and were shifted by police and local volunteers to District Hospital Ramban for treatmenthe added.

The other injured children have been identified as Jamrool, 3, daughter of Salman, Gulshan, 6, daughter of Salman, Chamaili, 7, daughter of Ram Paul, Shabana, 12, daughter of Mohd Israr, Salma Khatoon, 7, daughter of Mohd Israr, Chandni, 5, daughter of Mohd Israr, and Suraj Bhan, 12, son of Rampaul- all residents of UP presently putting up at Kowbagh Ramban. An official said that the families work during summers in Ramban.

Medical Superintendent at DH Ramban, Dr AH Zargar confirmed that a child was brought dead to the hospital while one adult and seven children below ten years old have suffered multiple injures in the accident.

Dr Zargar further said that the injured are being referred to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment.
