Panchayat polls conclude successfully in Kishtwar

Panchayat polls successfully concluded in all the 135 Panchayats of Kishtwar district on Tuesday.

In the final phase i.e. phase-IV of Panchayat elections, voting was held in 12 Panchayats of block Kishtwar today.

   

In the final and last phase of Panchayat elections held today, brisk 82.27% voter turnout was recorded in the district. As per DPEO Angrez Singh Rana, 12786 voters, 6285 male and 6501 female, exercised their right of vote  

Rana further said that in Rahalthal Panchayat and ward number 1 of Drubeel Panchayat of block Mughal Maidan, repolling was conducted today.

“A total of 1603 electors, 850 male and 753 female cast their vote in repolling with voter turnout of 80.11%,” the DPEO said.

The DPEO Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana expressed satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of the polling in the district and expressed his gratitude to the polling staff including zonal and sectoral magistrates, micro observers, police and security officers,  personnel from police, army, CRPF and all other departments.

He further congratulated all the newly elected members of Panchayats, both Panchs and Sarpanchs and impressed upon them to work with full vigour, mutual understanding and faith for the overall development of their Halqa Panchayats, thereby transforming the lives of rural people.

He pinned hope that after the establishment of Panchayati Raj, rural people shall reap the benefits of grass root democracy.
