PDD cuts power of bill defaulters

Power development department (PDD) Friday disconnected the power supply of customers who have an outstanding amount on their bills in Rajouri and Poonch districts.

Executive engineer, power development department, Poonch,Maqbool Naik told Greater Kashmir: “Around 150 domestic connections across thedistrict have been disconnected on Friday. Besides, many connections weredisconnected in the past few days as well.”

   

Executive engineer, power development department, Rajouri,Munshi Khan said, “Teams of the department are conducting a special driveagainst the bill defaulters across the district. Around 80 connections havebeen disconnected in the past few days, with 40 disconnected on Friday alone.”

He further said that the department is going to disconnectall power connections where bills are outstanding.

Meanwhile, among the connections disconnected on Fridayinclude over 21 government offices, the executive engineer, Rajouri, said, addingthat the outstanding had swollen to several lakhs.

He said, “A team, led by junior engineer Asif Nisar,inspector Inam Ullah and linemen Khalil Ahmed, Mohammad Liyaqit and YounisAhmed Maadev, during a daylong field visit, disconnected the power supply ofseveral government offices in Jawahar Nagar, Panja Chowk, Salani bridge and ITIroad area.”

He further said, “The offices of which the connections weredisconnected include office of deputy chief medical officer complex, JawaharNagar, animal husbandry department office, Rajouri, deputy superintendent ofpolice office, auxillary branch, fire service station, Rajouri, office ofassistant executive engineer workshop of power development department,divisional forest officer, Rajouri, social forestry hut of divisional forestofficer, Rajouri, state board of school education, branch Rajouri, office ofdivisional forest officer (timber), Rajouri, conservator forest office,Rajouri, deputy manager forest corporation, Rajouri, executive engineerirrigation and flood control department, Rajouri, assistant executive engineerflood control and irrigation department, Rajouri, superintendent engineerhydraulic circle, Rajouri, divisional forest officer social forestry, assistantdirector office and complex food supply, Rajouri.”

Besides, the connections of several public sector places,including petrol pumps, were also disconnected.
