The residents of Drabshalla, Kishtwar, today held a protest demonstration against the shortage of water in their area.
The protesters, including women and children, assembled on the Kishtwar-Jammu National Highway and raised slogans against the PHE Department for its failure to ensure regular water supply in their area despite repeated request and reminders.
They blocked Kishtwar-Jammu National Highway for around four hours which also led to traffic jam. Vehicles in large number remained stranded for hours together
While talking to Greater Kashmir, the protesters said that the district administration and PHE department are least bothered to supply drinking water to the people of Drabshalla as nothing has been done despite reminders.
The protesters raised slogans against Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department for not supplying drinking water regularly.
"We have neither taken bath nor we have washed clothes for the last many days", the protesters alleged. They alleged that they are not being provided adequate water to meet their daily needs.
They demanded action against the concerned officials for not restoring water supply in the area. "Even after our repeated requests, the concerned officials did nothing for restoration of water supply in the area" they said.
They added that the water crisis in their area is there since long but the concerned authorities are least bothered about their plight.
The residents of Drabshalla warned that they will intensify their protests if their demand is not conceded to at the earliest.
