Police have booked five youth from Kishtwar after a series of protests were held in the mountainous district against civilian killings in Kashmir Valley, sources said on Thursday.

Sources said the youth have been booked for allegedly forcing traders to shut their shops and "raising anti-India slogans" during the shutdown observed in the district on July 11 and July 15.

"Police have registered two FIRs at Police Station Kishtwar vide No 139/16 and 140/16 under section 120-B, 124-A and 153-A RPC against Saif-u-Din son of Abdul Jabbar of Bhagwan Mohalla; Javed Iqbal Sheikh son of Abdur Rasheed, Imran Ahmed son of Muhammad Aslam Sheikh, Parvez Ahmed son of Sanaullah Sheikh and Tariq Hussain Gulu—all residents of Sangrambatta," sources said.
