Belying tall claims of the Government of providing better road connectivity in district Kishtwar, majority of roads across Kishtwar area are in dilapidated condition.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, people said that the condition of roads is deplorable.
The inhabitants said one of the important roads, Kuleed-Poohi via Hullar, is dotted with potholes.
They said during last seven years the government has taken no effective steps to repair these roads.
They said they are facing tremendous problems while walking or travelling through these roads.
They said the bad condition of the roads was one of the important reasons for the rising number of accidents.
They said their problems compound when they have to ferry patients and expecting mothers to District Hospital Kishtwar.
The passenger vehicles have suffered damage due to bad condition of the roads. "Our vehicles are damaged by the bad roads," said Mudassir Ahmed, a driver.
"Majority of the drivers avoid plying vehicles on this road as a result of which passengers have to bear the brunt."
"We have time and again apprised the authorities about the condition of these roads between Kuleed to Poohi via Hullar but our requests have fallen on deaf ears," he added.
Residents have appealed the District Development Commissioner Kishtwar to intervene and look into the issue.
