To generate awareness amongst people, especially students, about the importance of tourism in improving the socio-economic condition of the region, Bhaderwah Development Authority, (BDA) in collaboration with Tourism department, organized a seminar-cum-cultural programme during the celebration of 'Prayatan Parv-2018', here on Wednesday.
The seminar, organized on 'Potential of tourism and its impact on socio-economic conditions of public', was held at Community Hall Kotli, wherein 500 students from government and private schools of Bhaderwah town and its peripheral areas participated.
ADC Bhaderwah Dr Ravi Kumar Bharti was the chief guest on the occasion, while ASP Rajinder Singh was the guest of honour. CEO BDA Dr Rajinder Prasad Khajuria presided over the function and renowned educationist Arif Hamid Rana conducted the proceedings.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO BDA said, "During the week long celebrations, we are going to hold several activities at different locations to observe Prayatan Parv-2018."
"Wednesday's programme was aimed to inculcate the sense of belonging among students to keep their surroundings clean in order to make Bhaderwah an environment friendly destination. This will help to increase the influx of tourist for sustained socio-economic development of the region," the CEO further said, adding, "This is also a prelude to the coming mega tourism festival and we located some talent during Wednesday's activities."
Later, the participating schools and the students who excelled in their respective activities were presented with appreciation certificates and trophies.
Fahad Irshad of Green Model Academy and Faiza Sheikh of GHS Nichlathara were adjudged first and second in the debate competition.
Prominent among those who were present during the function included BDO Bhaderwah Dr Mohammad Ashraf, SDPO Aadil Rishu, SHO Munir Khan, Publicity Officer Sajid Khan and Imran Khan.
