Repair high school building, demand Naka Manjari residents

The residents of Naka Manjari village in Mendhar sub-division Sunday demanded the repair of the local high school building, alleging that majority of the rooms in the building lie dilapidated.

The irked residents said, “Government Middle School, Naka Manjari, was upgraded to the high school-level in 1985 and continues to be the only high school in the area.”

They alleged, “Only two classrooms of the school are in a good condition. The remaining six rooms lie severely dilapidated, making students suffer.”

They accused the government and concerned department of ignoring them and showcasing callousness.

On being contacted, deputy chief education officer, Mendhar, Lal Hussain, said that he will visit the school and will also personally monitor the issue, so that the higher authorities can be intimated accordingly.

Chief education officer, Poonch, S Bhagat, said that he recently joined the department and will prepare a detailed report at an earliest to be forwarded to the higher authorities.
