Road Safety Week: Cultural programme, medical camp held

As a part of the week long ‘Road Safety Week’, under the theme of Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha, motor vehicle department organised a cultural programme at Doda and a medical camp at Rajouri on Tuesday.

At Doda, the programme was organised by ARTO, Rajesh Kumar, at Community Hall, wherein DDC Anshul Garg was the chief guest, while SSP Shabir Ahmed, DSWO Doda and SP operation Ravinder Pal Singh were the guests of honour.

   

While addressing the gathering, the ARTO said that the aim of organizing the cultural programme is to aware people about the importance of road safety through the medium of songs and acts.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said, “We have to follow all the rules and measures of road safety in letter and spirit, which will not only safeguard our lives but others as well.”

Several guests also spoke on the occasion.

Besides MVD officials and officers, DIO Doda Mohammad Ashraf, CDPO Doda, Major 10 RR, president municipal committee Doda and others were also present on the occasion.

Later, a prize distribution ceremony was held, wherein the ARTO presented a memento to the chief guest, while the DDC distributed prizes among the participants.

In Rajouri, motor vehicles department, in association with health department, held a medical checkup camp for drivers at old bus stand.

Assistant regional transport officer, Neeraj Sharma, medical superintendent of DH Rajouri, Dr Mehmood Bajar, inspectors of motor vehicles department, Ranjeev Bhasin and Aslam Parvez, alongwith other officials and representatives of transport unions were present in the camp.

A team of health experts examined the medical fitness of the drivers, with main focus on ailments which affect driving capabilities.

During his address, ARTO Neeraj Sharma told the drivers that they are the main stakeholders of Road Safety Week as accidents on roads can mainly be prevented with their help. He asked them to desist from rash driving, over speeding, over loading and using high volume music while driving.

The medical superintendent asked drivers to follow all the tips of safe driving, in order to minimize the loss of lives on roads. He also asked them to go for regular medical checkups.
