Sgr-Jmu highway open for traffic

Ramban, Dec 3: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and one-way traffic for Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV) on Friday.

Officials at the Traffic Control Unit National Highway Ramban said that vehicular traffic on both sides of the highway plied smoothly.

Meanwhile, Traffic Police Headquarters Srinagar and Jammu issued a fresh traffic advisory for Saturday stating that subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs would be allowed to ply on either side on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway whereas HMVs would be allowed to move towards Kashmir on Saturday morning after the tail of down convoy crosses Jakhani Udhampur on the highway.

It said that the Traffic Control Unit Srinagar and Jammu would liaise with Traffic Control Unit Ramban before releasing the traffic.

The advisory stated that the cut-off timing for LMVs has been fixed for 5 am to 12 pm from Nagrota Jammu, 6 am to 1 pm from Jakhani Udhampur, and from 6 am to 1 pm for Zig Qazigund to Jammu.

It said that no vehicle would be allowed to ply before and after the cut-off timings.
