Student biker dies in Bhaderwah accident

A teenage school student biker died Saturday and his pillion was seriously injured when the motorcycle they were ridding skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge on Bhaderwah-Basholi road in Doda.

The bikers were not wearing helmets and were riding amotorcycle without a registration number when it skidded off the road whilenegotiating a sharp curve and fell into a 100 feet deep gorge nearThantera-Basti at 9.30 pm, police said.

   

“Both the injured teenage students were brought tosub-district hospital Bhaderwah by locals who rescued them from the deep gorgedespite darkness, where one of them succumbed to his injuries at 11.30pm, whilethe pillion rider is undergoing treatment,” said SP Bhaderwah, Raj SinghGouria.

“The young bikers, who are the students of highersecondary school Bhadarwah had gone on a picnic to Guldanda and while comingback they met an accident,” SP added.

The dead teenager was identified as Waseem Ahmed, 18, son ofNisar Ahmed of Parnala Bhadarwah.

His injured friend Sohail Ganai, son of Barkat Ganai ofvillage Dhareja, Bhadarwah is being treated at a hospital in Jammu city.
