Despite heavy rainfall since Tuesday,  a large number of devotees from across the state and outside today paid obeisance at Hazarat Shah Mohammad Farid-Ud-Din shrine.

A large number of devotees started gathering at the shrine since early morning as the Annual Urs of Hazarat Shah Mohammad Farid-Ud-Din at Ziarat complex began with religious fervour.

The Urs of Shah Mohammad Farid -Ud- Din is observed every year on 7th Har, usually falling on June 20 or 21.

However, on this occasion, the caretakers of the shrine of Sufi saint displayed the personal belongs including sword, clothes and stick used by Shah Sahib during his life at 2:00 pm.

The Auqaf Islamia Kishtwar made free boarding and lodging arrangements for the pilgrims at Baitul Zaireen at Hidyal Chowk Kishtwar. 

Meanwhile, district administration, in collaboration with the Auqaf Islamia, had made elaborate arrangements for the peaceful and hassle free celebration of the annual Urs.

DDC Kishtwar, G.N.Balwan, enjoined upon all the line departments to work in coordination and make available adequate facilities.

He called for adequate transport, proper management of the traffic, provision for safe drinking water, sanitation and uninterrupted power supply, besides maintenance of cleanliness in the town in general and around the shrine in particular, an official handout said.

The Municipal Committee has given a facelift to the township and launched a cleanliness drive as part of arrangements decided by the district administration.
