Police on Saturday booked a driver his helper and their colleagues under NDPS after it recovered banned drugs from a truck.
Police sources said that acting on a tip-off Police tried intercepted a (truck No. JK02B-7743) loaded with shoe cartons for checking at a naka on Jammu- Srinagar Highway.
Police said the driver of the vehicle Zulifkar Ahmed Bhat son of Abdul Aziz Bhat of Phalgam tried giving a slip to forces but was chased by the cops as was stopped after some distance.
They claimed while checking the vehicle 49 cartoons having 1200 bottles were recovered which they had concealed in poly bags.
Police claimed that during interrogation they confessed and revealed that they were carrying this consignment for further distribution in Kashmir.
SHO Police Station Inspector Naveen Angral told Greater Kashmir that all three accused were booked under FIR number 113 of 2016 under section 8/21/22 NDPS act at police station Ramban.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
