3 shops gutted in Downtown blaze

Srinagar, Mar 22: At least three shops were gutted in a fire incident at Bohri Kadal area in Downtown on Friday.

Officials said that two firemen also received injuries while dousing off the fire. The duo was identified as Mudasir Ahmad and Robinder Singh.

   

An official said that they received the information about the incident at around 1:30 pm and pressed multiple fire tenders to douse off the flame.

“Fire tenders from Headquarters, MR Gunj, SH Pora, Baba Demb were pressed to control fire. Our men were successful in controlling fire and kept it from spreading in the congested area. In the incident three shops were gutted. These shops include a cosmetics shop,” said the official.

The officials said that the cause of the fire is being investigated. Meanwhile, in a separate fire incident at Chattabal area of Srinagar, a house was partially damaged. Officials said that the fire incident happened near the Pindichi Mandi area of Chattabal, in which the attic portion of the house was damaged.

“There was no major loss, and the fire tenders from headquarters controlled the fire and saved the property,” said the official.
