COLONY WOES | Sonwar residents decry unscheduled power cuts

Srinagar, Mar 1: Residents of Palpora area of Sonwar here expressed resentment over unscheduled power cuts and drinking water shortage in the locality.

A delegation from the area said that despite being a fully metered area, they face unscheduled power cuts. “There is hardly any adherence to power curtailment scheduled. Power goes off after every 15 to 20 minutes. This has severely affected our lives,” they said.

They said unscheduled power cuts are giving them a tough time. “Our electronic gadgets have developed snag due to frequent power cuts. This is sheer discrimination with us as adjoining areas face round the clok power supply,” they said.

The residents said they are also facing acute shortage of drinking water. “Our taps are running dry most of the time. And even during water supply, pressure is too low. We urge PHE authorities to augment drinking water supply. We appeal to DC Srinagar to redress our problems at the earliest,” they added.
