Srinagar, Apr 21:  The search operation for the missing individuals in the tragic boat capsize incident at Gandbal area here has entered its sixth day.

The incident, which occurred last Tuesday, has left the local community and authorities deeply concerned and engaged in the ongoing search and rescue efforts.

The ill-fated incident took place when a boat carrying several passengers capsized in the waters of the Jhelum River in the Nowgam area of Gandbal. According to witnesses, the boat was overcrowded and lost balance, leading to the tragic accident.

Despite continuous efforts of the local administration, police, and rescue teams, including the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), no significant breakthrough has been made in locating the missing individuals. The challenging weather conditions and strong currents in the river have further complicated the search operation.

Speaking to reporters, a senior police official overseeing the operation expressed the challenges faced by the rescue teams due to the murky waters and strong currents. He assured that efforts were ongoing and that every possible measure was being taken to locate the missing persons.

Meanwhile, authorities have urged the public to refrain from venturing into the river and to adhere to safety guidelines to avoid similar incidents in the future. The administration has also assured that all necessary support and assistance will be provided to the affected families.

As the search operation enters its sixth day, hopes for a positive outcome are diminishing, but the relentless efforts of the rescue teams and the support of the local community continue to drive the search for the missing individuals involved in the boat capsize.
