Waterlogging irks Garden Lane residents

Srinagar, Apr 30:  Residents of Garden Lane in Chanapora locality on city outskirts have expressed resentment against failure of authorities to undertake dewatering in the waterlogged area.

A delegation of residents said that the area is submerged for the last three days. “Authorities failed to install dewatering pump in our area. Water has entered our ground floor and premises. We can’t even move outside. This is like a nightmare for us,” they said.

The residents said SMC installed a pump in the adjacent lane for dewatering. “As a result, water of adjacent Rose Lane is flowing towards Garden Lane. The matter was taken up with concerned authorities but no substantial action has been taken so far. A small sucker was used for 15 minutes and then the area was left unattended. We urge Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to direct the concerned authorities to immediately drain out accumulated water by using pumps from our Lane and also fix the problem permanently,” they added.
