BJP leader rescued from abductors in Baramulla: Police

Hours after the BJP vice-president for Rafiabad constituency in Baramulla and vice-president Municipal Committee Watrgam, Mehrajudin Malla, was abducted by unknown persons outside his house Wednesday morning, police said the leader was rescued.

"The abducted BJP leader has been rescued," IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said, without divulging details.

The family of Malla earlier said that around 9.30 am some unknown persons abducted him in a car.

Malla's father is also associated with the BJP since 2012 and has served as general secretary for district Baramulla as well as vice-president.

A police official said that they were investigating the entire incident. "The rescued BJP leader will also be questioned," he said.
