6 youths detained during nocturnal raids in Pampore

Six youths were detained by the security forces during an overnight raid in south Kashmir’s Pampore township.

A police official said that forces in the dead of night onWednesday surrounded a cluster of houses in different areas of Pampore andKhrew and detained six youths.

   

All the detainees were lodged in various police stationsfalling in the jurisdiction of Awantipora.

The youth, according to the official, are being quizzed fortheir “role in different anti-national activities.”

Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed on second straightday in Tral township on Thursday against the killing of a local Jaish-e-Mohammad(JeM) militant.

All shops and other business establishments remained closedin the town while public transport was off the roads to mourn the militant’skilling.

A top Jaish-i-Muhamad (JeM) commander and his associate werekilled in a gunfight with the security forces in Bhijbehara town in Anantnagdistrict on Tuesday.

Police identified the slain Jaish commander as Fayaz Ahmadof Panzoo village of Tral. The second militant killed in the encounter, who wasalso active with JeM, was identified as Shanu Showkat of Kanelwan village ofBijbehara town..

People from different areas continued to visit the house ofslain militant Fayaz in Panzoo to offer prayers for him.
