A group of 20 doctors from here have started an initiative to offer free telephonic-consultations to the patients.
The initiative "reach out initiative" was startedafter some social organisations roped in the doctors including physicians,gynecologists, general surgeons, pediatricians, orthopedics, dental surgeons,psychiatrists and other specialists for providing people with medicalconsultations for different health related issues.
Under the initiative, people can directly contact doctorsand specialists over phone. The doctors note the symptoms described and medicalhistory during the conversation and accordingly give medical advice. Ifnecessary, the call is also forwarded to a specialist, who provides furtherassistance.
A doctor said they get calls every day from people, seekingmedical advice for different health related issues.
"I received a call from a patient yesterday in theevening. I provided him with the required medical advice," said Dr Rameez,a physician.
Similarly Dr Suzaira Bashir, a gynecologist said she keepson getting calls from patients during the day. Dr Arshad Sofi, a dentist who ispart of the initiative said this was the time serve mankind.
"We are available for people. They can seek medicaladvice from us as much as they like. There is no service better than to servesociety," said Dr Sofi.
