GMC Baramulla suspends OPD services

Following surge in COVID-19 cases, the Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla administration Wednesday decided to suspend its Out Patient Department (OPD) services.

However, there would be no bar on emergency services.

The decision has been taken following a spike in COVID-19 cases which forced the authorities to optimise diversion of the available manpower and material resources for the care and treatment of coronavirus positive cases.

“In order to deal with the growing number of COVID-19 cases, we have decided to suspend the OPD services at the GMC and its associate hospital,” Principal GMC Baramulla Dr Ruby Reshi told Greater Kashmir.

However, she said that the emergency services would run normally.

“We will be running one surgical theatre and a COVID-19 theatre,” Dr Reshi said.

The GMC Baramulla administration has urged the general public to stop visiting the OPD at GMC and its associate hospital.

It has requested the general public to seek consultations telephonically from the list of doctors made available.
