JKPCC fails to meet deadline on Kralpora hospital in Kupwara

People of Kralpora today complained that the building of the upgraded hospital in the area has not been completed for the last years.

They said the 10-bedded hospital at Kralpora was upgraded in2004 to 30-beds. “However, the construction of the new hospital building whichwas started in 2010 by J&K Public Construction Corporation is yet tocomplete,” they said.

   

The people complained that they were facing immense problemsfor want of upgraded healthcare facility in the area.

“There is one room for outpatient department, one for dentalsection and few beds for the patients in the hospital. The dearth ofinfrastructure has directly hit the patient care,” an official said wishing notto be named, adding that the slow pace of work on the new building is furtheraffecting the health care.  

More than 300 patients visit the OPD ward in one room ondaily basis.

“The new hospital building is complete more than 80 percentbut the internal work is pending,” sources said, adding that in absence of theupgraded health facility in the area, patients are perforce shifted to otherhospitals in the district or referred to Srinagar hospitals.

“We can manage all kinds of surgeries here but the lack ofinfrastructure comes in way,” a surgeon specialist in the hospital said.

Deputy General Manager JKPCC unit Kupwara, Mufti Irfan said:”The ground floor of the building is almost complete. Work on interiors of thefirst floor is going on. By the end of this year we will hand over the buildingto the hospital authorities.”

He however added that the completion of hospital completelyhinged on the availability of funds.
