Srinagar, Mar 4: All the government and private schools across Kashmir on Monday resumed routine academic and extracurricular activities for the students after a gap of over three-month winter break.
The first day in both government and private educational institutions was observed as a “welcome day” as the students and teachers in government and private schools were seen equally excited and joyous to resume the routine activities in the school.
The schools wore a festive look and witnessed hustle and bustle.
The students in the majority of government schools were welcomed with sweets and biscuits by the teachers to make the first day of the students in schools a mix of fun and studies.
The teachers had decorated the exterior of the school buildings, premises, and classrooms with hanging buntings to attract the students on their first day in school.
Director of School Education Kashmir, Tasqduq Hussain Mir also visited a few schools in Srinagar city to welcome the school children on the first day after the culmination of winter vacations.
Mir distributed sweets and chocolates among the small school children, bringing smiles to their faces.
Talking to reporters, he said that the department had advised all school heads to make arrangements to welcome students on the first day after winter vacations.
“We tried to give a festive look to the schools on the first day so that kids get a different rhythm after returning to school. The teachers are their guides and mentors and we are hopeful that the teachers are putting in all efforts to make children feel that they are in safe hands,” Mir said.
He advised the students to work hard to make their future safe and secure.
“We are committed to providing better facilities to the students in all schools,” Mir said.
The students, parents, and teachers were jubilant over the resumption of class work in schools after the three-month-long winter vacations.
Abdul Hadi, a student from Srinagar, expressed excitement saying that the resumption of class work after winter vacations provides an opportunity to meet friends and teachers and explore new things.
A parent from Srinagar while sharing his happiness over the reopening of schools for children said, “Not only our kids but we too were eagerly waiting for the reopening of schools.”
Meanwhile, the Kupwara district administration ordered that all schools in Keran, Budnambal, Jumagund, Kumkadi, Machil, and upper reaches of the Karnah subdivision would remain closed on March 4 and 5 given the recent heavy snowfall followed by an avalanche warning issued by JKDMA.
However, on the first day of the school reopening, the officers from district administration Kupwara, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudhan, visited various schools of Handwara to welcome the students and inspect the smooth re-opening of schools and resumption of class work.
Accompanied by Deputy CEO Kupwara Manzoor Ahmad Bhat and ZEO Handwara Shemesdin, ADC Handwara Aziz Ahmad Rather visited various schools and welcomed students by presenting sweets besides interacting with the students and staff.
