1200 travellers quarantined in Kathua

At least 1200 travellers have been quarantined in Kathua district for mandatory 14 days period in different centers where people have become apprehensive of being infected with Covid19 in crowded accommodations with poor facilities.

As the situation has turned grim across the country in viewof coronavirus, hundreds of people have started returning to their respectivehome places in Jammu and Kashmir.

   

“Around 1200 people have been quarantined in differentcenters across Kathua district,” said SSP Kathua, Shailendra Mishra. The SSPsaid that many people are stranded on the Lakhanpur Inter-State Border and someof them are returning.

“We have told them that if they wish to enter Jammu andKashmir, they will be quarantined for a period of 14 compulsory days,” he said.The quarantined people, mostly from Kashmir, have demanded to be quarantined intheir respective districts.

One Mohammad Danish told Greater Kashmir that around 400women, children, elderly persons, and students have been kept at universitycampus under unhygienic conditions. “We are leaving in a difficult situationhere. The campus is crowded. There is high possibility of coronavirusinfection,” alleged Danish.

8 SUSPECTED PATIENTS SHIFTED TO HOSPITAL:

Suspected of coming in contact with the coronavirus positivereligious preacher of Srinagar, the authorities have shifted eight residents ofTali Basti in Bari Brahmana (Samba district) to isolation ward. Their sampleshave been sent for testing. Meanwhile, one more positive case has beensuccessfully cured in Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu anddischarged.
