2 arrested for objectionable social media posts: Police

Police today arrested two persons in Kashmir for allegedly posting ‘objectionable material’ on social media.

“Cyber Police Station received information through reliablesources that some miscreants with criminal intention and to create panicamongst public have circulated fake information/videos having bearing on lawand order on social media platforms. It was also learnt that the miscreants arecirculating photographs of terrorists of proscribed terrorist organization onsocial media and networking sites in order to provoke the masses and causedisaffection against the country. The said actions have been undertaken bythese miscreants in order to mislead the public in general and youth inparticular,” police said in a statement.”Accordingly, a case FIR No. 05/2020 under relevantsections of law stands registered in Cyber Police Station, Kashmir Zone,Srinagar and investigation set into motion. Two miscreants have been arrestedin the instant case. General public is advised not to circulate unauthentic andfake information through social media platforms. Any person found indulging insuch activities will be dealt with strictly under law,” police said.
