Class 10th board exams begin today

Srinagar, Nov 19: The class 10 annual regular (2021) examinations will commence across Kashmir from Saturday. The examination will be conducted by the JK Board of School Education (BOSE).

As per the official figures around 74000 students have registered for the examination for which JK Board has set up 739 examination centers in government and private schools across Kashmir.

“We have also set up an exam centre for specially-abled students at BOSE office Bemina.

Separate arrangements have been put in place for the parents during exam days,” Joint Secretary Administration JKBOSE, Prof Aijaz Hakak told Greater Kashmir.

He said all the preparations have been done as per the guidelines issued by the State Executive Committee in order to ensure complete adherence to the COVID19 protocol.

“The heads of the schools where exam centers have been set up, have been asked to ensure all the COVID19 guidelines issued by the government for holding exams, are followed in letter in spirit,” he said.

The heads of the institutions have been asked to ensure adequate heating and lighting arrangements in the examination halls, Hakak said.

The state executive committee of the department of Disaster Management J&K has already ordered that students appearing in the class 10th and 12th annual examination should carry parents’ consent along on each day of their examinations.

Like last year, the number of examinations has increased to ensure proper distance is maintained between the examinees in the examination halls. “Only 50 percent seating capacity will be occupied in one exam hall in order to maintain proper distance,” he said.

As already reported, the students appearing in class 10th to 12th annual examination have been given 30 per cent relaxation in syllabus by the JK Board, in view of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.

The students have to attempt 70 per cent marks from the question paper which will be treated as 100 per cent for result computation.

The JK Board has however reduced the time allotted for attempting the question papers during examination. As per the notification issued by JK Board, the papers having three hours duration shall be having only two and a half hours time period for attempting the questions.

Similarly, subjects having 2.30 hours and 2 hours duration shall be having only 2.10 hours and 1.40 hours time period for attempting the questions during examination.

Notably, the class 12th annual Board exams are also underway. Around 72112 candidates are registered for the exams for which JK Board has set up 736 exam centers in schools across Kashmir.
