Covid-19 | 2 deaths, 109 new cases in J&K

Srinagar, Nov 5: Two people died of COVID19 in J&K today as another 109 fresh cases were reported. Of the 18 casualties in previous month, 8 have lost life in past five days only.

Official bulletin on COVID19 by J&K Government today said two fresh casualties due to COVID19 have taken place in the past 24 hours, preceding the issuance of the report. One of the deceased was from Jammu division, while the other was from Kashmir division. The deceased person from Kashmir belonged to district Srinagar, the data revealed. The death toll of COVID19 reached 850 for Srinagar today. The cumulative death toll of the viral disease in J&K reached 4440 with the fresh fatalities.

   

Many doctors have expressed concern over the rise of cases and sudden spike in deaths in Kashmir division, coupled with a slight rise in cases. However, Government has said that the cases were result of mixing and crowding during Marriage season.

In the past one month, 18 people have lost life due to SARS-CoV2 in J&K. However, in November, the deaths have escalated with eight deaths in five days only. The number of cases in the past five days has also seen a surge, 511 testing positive in the UT, mostly in Kashmir division.

Today, of the 109 cases, 98 were from Kashmir division and 11 Jammu from Jammu division. Srinagar reported 64 new cases, the district proving to be a major spot for the cases. The district was having 511 active cases on 05 November. Currently, there are 1009 active cases in the UT.

In the past 24 hours, 79 people recovered from the infection, the bulletin said. It said that 68597 people were vaccinated in the 20 districts.
