COVID19 | 2 deaths, 181 new cases in J&K

Srinagar, Dec 3: Two people lost life to COVID19 today, both in Kashmir division. Today, 181 people tested positive in the UT, a vast majority from three districts alone. Today, two people were reported to have lost life to COVID19 in J&K, the official bulletin on COVID19 said. The bulletin said the number of fatalities in J&K reached 4479 today. The deaths attributed to COVID19 have escalated in the Kashmir division since the beginning of November. In J&K, 44 patients lost life to COVID19 in November, the number nearly six times more than the deaths due to the Virus in the month of October. In December, three people succumbed to the respiratory viral infection already.

Today, 181 fresh cases of COVID19 were reported from 20 districts. However, the bulletin showed that 70 percent of the fresh cases were from three districts only. In the district Reasi, 31 people, 30 of them travelers, tested positive today. The positive cases from Reasi, due to the massive testing among the travelers arriving for pilgrimage, has been adding to the number of cases in J&K in the past few days, a senior official said.

   

In addition, district Srinagar had 56 new cases today, while district Baramulla had 41 new cases. Together, district Reasi, Baramulla and Srinagar accounted for more than two-third cases in J&K. The number of cases detected from district Jammu today was 18 while all other districts, barring Budgam had positive reports in single digit, District Budgam reported 11 new cases today.

The number of active cases in Srinagar dipped to 588 today, while Baramulla had 324 active cases. District Reasi has 174 active cases.

Today, 54621 tests were carried out in J&K. The number of vaccinations carried out today was 65114, the J&K Government said.
