COVID19 | J&K records worst spike of 2204 cases, 13 deaths

The COVID graph in Jammu and Kashmir is refusing to come down as the worst ever spike of 2204 cases and 13 deaths was reported in the last 24 hours.

It is for the second day in a row J&K has reported over 2000 cases in a day. The active cases are close to 15000, occupancy in hospitals has witnessed manifold increase this month.

   

As per the details shared by the health department, of the total 2204 cases, 1299 cases were reported from Kashmir division and 905 cases from Jammu division. A total of 410 travelers were tested positive for COVID on arrival in J&K. The total tally of cases has reached 152442.

Apart from the highest number of cases, J&K witnessed its highest spike in deaths this year. A total of 13 new fatalities were reported, of which 10 COVID positive patients succumbed in Jammu and 3 persons died due to COVID in Kashmir division.

The total tally of deaths due to COVID is 2084, of which 1303 have died in Kashmir and 781 in Jammu division since the outbreak of pandemic in J&K. First death due to COVID was reported in March last year.

The upward trend in COVID cases has resulted in accumulation of active positive cases. Currently active cases in J&K stands at 14928, of which  8712 active cases are in Kashmir division and remaining 6216 active cases in Jammu division.

As per the details of the health department 877 patients are admitted in hospitals, of which 602 are on oxygen support and 45 on ventilator support. The total number of COVID dedicated beds in J&K is 2620.

Srinagar district for the second consecutive day reported over 600 cases. On Wednesday, Srinagar reported 612 cases, taking the total tally of infection cases in the district to 36332 and deaths reported so far are 492.

Apart from Srinagar, Baramulla district for the first time this year has reported over 200 cases. Baramulla clocked 232 cases on Wednesday. Besides Jammu district reported 461 cases.

As per the details, Budgam has reported 102 cases, Pulwama 64, Kupwara 65, Anantnag 61,

Bandipora 14, Ganderbal 32, Kulgam 109, Shopian 8, Jammu 461, Udhampur 52, Rajouri 41, Doda 8, Kathua 127, Samba 51, Kishtwar 4, Poonch 12, Ramban 16 and Reasi 133.

Meanwhile as per the official figures, 733 persons have tested negative after being earlier tested positive for COVID. The total number of persons recovered from COVID in J&K is 1335430.
