Highway: BRO starts erecting bailey bridge at Kelamorh

Hundreds of vehicles carrying essential supplies are stranded on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway which was closed for traffic following collapse of a portion of the road and a bridge at Kelamorh on Sunday.

Engineers of Border Roads Organization today started work for erecting bailey bridge at Kelamorh.

   

The BRO engineers said the bridge would be completed soon.

On the other hand, NHIA is also working to reconstruct the damage portion of the highway.

Passengers stranded on the highway are stuck at various places for last four days without any accommodation or help from the government.

PTI ADDS: “We have put all the resources available for completing the bridge. The work is continuing on a war footing as all men and machinery have been put to use. We are sure that by Friday evening the bailey bridge will be completed and ready for traffic,” Brigadier I K Jaggi, the chief engineer who is monitoring the construction work at the site, said.
