J&K politicians condemn policemen killing

Srinagar, Dec 10 : Political leaders cutting across party lines have condemned the killing of two policemen in a militant attack in Bandipora on Friday.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to Twitter and while condemning the attack: “I condemn the militant attack on the police in Bandipora area earlier today (Friday) that resulted in the death in the line of duty of J&K police personnel, Muhammad Sultan and Fayaz Ahmad. May Allah grant them Jannat and may their families find strength at this time,” Abdullah said in a Tweet.

   

In a statement issued here, Apni Party president Syed Muhammad termed the attack as “heart wrenching and barbaric”. “The senseless bloodshed has only destroyed the life of people in Kashmir. Forces inimical to peace will yield nothing through violence except for adding to the miseries of people,” Bukhari said.

Bukhari reiterated that the acts of violence in any of its manifestations are detrimental to the interests of any civilised society and people should raise their voice against such inhuman and barbaric forces before it is too late.

“Killing two police personnel just after Friday congregational prayers is a blot on the face of those who condone such actions. No cause, how logical it may be, can justify such heinous crimes against humanity,” Bukhari said.

Bukhari extended his profound condolences to the bereaved families to bear the loss and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. “The government should disburse adequate ex-gratia relief to the families of the slain cops and take every measure to rehabilitate their dependents” Bukhari said.

Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Chairman Hakeem Yaseen Friday condemned the killing of two policemen at Bandipora.

A statement of PDF issued here said that Yaseen expressed sorrow over the killing of two policemen at Gulshan Chowk in Bandipora.

Yaseen said that the killing of any human being was against the human values and humanity.

He said ongoing killings in Kashmir only add to the miseries of the people and increases the alarming number of widows and orphans.

BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir spokesman Altaf Thakur has also condemned the attack on two policemen and termed it as a frustration on the part of militants. In a statement, he said that the killing of two policemen who were on duty is barbaric and highly condemnable. He expressed condolences to the families of the two slain policemen, and urged the police to identity and punish the killers of the two cops, said the statement.
