J&K to observe State mourning today

India mourns tragic death of Iran’s President, Foreign Minister

Jammu, May 20: J&K, like other parts of the country, will observe a one-day state mourning on Tuesday, May 21, as a mark of respect to Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who passed away in a helicopter crash.

The national flag will fly at half-mast and there will be no official entertainment during the mourning period.

   

“As a mark of respect to His Excellency Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and His Excellency Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who passed away in a helicopter crash, the Government of India has decided that there shall be one day State Mourning on May 21, 2024 (Tuesday) throughout the country,” read an order issued by GAD.

“It has been decided that the national flag shall fly at half-mast during the mourning on all buildings and places where it is flown regularly. There shall be no official entertainment during the mourning,” it said.
